Hydraulics
Hydraulics
- Hydraulic actuation is used in many plant & machinery because of the diversified opportunities offered by mechanization & automation.
- The most important component for generating linear working is the Hydraulic cylinder
- The performance & the operational reliability of hydraulically actuated equipment depends substantially on the seals which are installed in Hydraulic cylinder.
- Hydraulics are classified into mainly static seals & dynamic seals. Dynamic seals are mainly classified into rod seals & piston seals which are mainly design as Lip seals or compact seals.
NBR U- Seals
Operating pressure : Max. 100 bar
Temp. : -30 to 100 deg c
Speed : Upto 0.5m/s
NBR U- Seals
- A light application single acting lip seal design with symmetric or asymmetric profile used in rod as well as piston sealing made up of NBR rubber.
- Nitrile rubber have good resistance to abrasion, extrusion and compression set. Are suitable for petroleum oils and fluids, water-oil emulsions.
PU U-seals
Pressure : Max 320 bar
Temp. : -30 to 80 deg c
Speed : Upto 0.5m/s
PU U-seals
- A light to medium application single acting lip seal with a asymmetric profile used in rod as well as piston sealing made up of Polyurethane material.
- Very low friction applications with optimum wear and abrasion resistance over conventional elastomers.
Chevron packing
Pressure : Upto 350 bar
Temp. : -30 to 100 deg c
Speed : Upto 0.5m/s
Chevron packing
- Chevron packing are suitable for Rod as well as Piston application.
- The main advantage of these seals are working under extreme conditions. A set is comprised of 3 type of ring made up of canvas reinforce NBR/ Viton rubber.
- Bottom ring of U shaped eliminates weak points and insures centreline action. 3 or more nos. of v shaped ring are laid in between & are important part of canvas packing seal. And one no. of top ring or thrust ring to hold the seal in its location.
- The main advantage of the design of canvas packing set is when the performance of seal is reduce by wear then it can be improve by tightening of end plate, so the interference of the seal is increased sealing is ensured Material – Canvas reinforce NBR/FKM rubber.
Compact Seals
Compact Seals
- A double acting compact Seals are multipart sealing systems that generally consist of an elastic rubber ring , additional back-up ring and guiding element slip ring.
- There are various types of compact seals , some of them are as follows.
PTFE Seals
Operating Parameters
Pressure : upto 400 bar
Temperature : -30deg c to 100 deg c
Speed : upto 2 M/s
PTFE Seals
- Two Part Compact seal consisting of PTFE Slip ring and O ring as energizing ring.
- It can be design suitably for Rod as well as Piston. It is used in standard cylinder, medium and heavy mobile hydraulics , injection moulding machines etc.
- It has various advantages such as No pressure trapping , excellent antifriction characteristics , long service life , simple groove design & installation
DAS Seal
Operating Parameters
Pressure : upto 400 bar
Temperature : -30deg c to 100 deg c
Speed : upto 0.5 M/s
DAS Seal
- This Seal is a combination of rubber seal ring , two back-up rings and two guide rings.
- The Rubber seal ring is located in the centre of seal , and one back-up and guide ring are located on each side.
- The main advantages of this seal is high resistance to gap extrusion, low cost piston production, closed groove and one piece short length piston etc.
Guide Ring
Operating Parameters
Temperature : -30deg c to 200 deg c
Speed : upto 5 M/s
Guide Ring
- Guide rings are used to guide rods & Pistons in cylinder and provide good radial loading capacity.
- It maintains the correct Posistioning and concentricity of reciprocating components , thereby eliminating metal to metal hardware contact , hence improving cylinder & seal life.
- Typically used in cylinders & machinery with requirements for dynamic performance & service life.
Wiper Seals
All of the above wipers can be manufactured from Viton also hence it can work upto temperature 200 Deg C
Wiper Seals
- As of seals , wipers are also and essential part of sealing system in hydraulics & pneumatics applications.
- Though it is not directly functioning against pressure , but it is protecting against the dirt, dust & foreign particles. The advantage of this function is that it enhances the life of seals and complete systems as by avoiding the direct contact of fine particle with seal and cylinder.
- Some of the wiper seals use commonly are as follows.
- Lip seal – is a single acting rod wiper fitted in housing.
- U Cum wiper – is a double acting rod wiper for fitted in housing . Sealing lip directed inward fulfill the U – packing function.
- Metal Wiper – is a single acting rod wiper with metal casing for open housing , which is press fitted into housing.
- All of the above wipers can be manufactured from Viton also, hence it can work up to temperature 200 Deg C
ED Seals/Profile Ring
Pressure : Up to 800 bar
Temp : Up to 220 deg C
ED Seals/Profile Ring
- These are meant for Sealing fittings and tubes of Hydraulic application and are usually manufacture in Viton Rubber.
